The client was building a landmark residence in one of the Midlands’ most prestigious areas. Their vision extended beyond luxury finishes. They wanted a home that delivered effortless living, immersive entertainment, and full control through smart, integrated systems. The technology needed to be intuitive, unobtrusive, and designed to enhance daily life. They envisioned a space where audio, lighting, security, and climate would work in harmony with the home’s architecture. A dedicated cinema room was also a key part of the brief, requiring a cinematic experience that could rival premium screening rooms.
Given the scale of the project, the client needed a specialist partner who could coordinate complex systems while maintaining premium quality and design integrity. They had spoken with other providers but struggled to find a team who could deliver such a high level of execution across AV, networking, automation, and bespoke cinema. The build included a large footprint and involved integrating multiple systems including lighting, multi-room audio and video, networking, CCTV, intercom, and pool control. The cinema room alone required acoustics, engineering, and calibration that would meet demanding performance standards.
Contello delivered a complete concept-to-commission service including design consultation, system specification, full installation, programming, and support. The home features a Control4 smart system with a fully custom interface. Lighting, heating, shading,CCTV, intercom, and gate entry were all tied into a single environment. The AV system includes 12 video zones and 24 audio zones, distributed over a 10G fibre backbone with Wyrestorm 4K60 video-over-IP switching and Ruckus WiFi for enterprise-grade reliability.
For content distribution, Kaleidescape was deployed as the high-performance media platform. A dedicated unit powers the cinema for lossless, reference-grade playback, while a second unit distributes curated content across the rest of the home’s video zones, allowing consistent access to the family’s library from any room.
The dedicated cinema is a standout space in both performance and design. Acoustic treatment was handled in collaboration with Cinematech, ensuring optimal sound performance and room control. The hardware specification includes a 5-metre wide acoustically transparent cinemascope screen, JVC NZ9 projector with a Paladin DCR anamorphic lens, Wisdom Audio Sage Line 3fronts, L8i surrounds, and ICS7a overhead Atmos speakers. The system runs on an11.6.4Dolby Atmos configuration powered by Wisdom amplifiers, Storm Audio processing and is paired with a MadVR Envy Pro MK2 video processor.
Infinity Seating provided custom cinema seating, and the system is controlled through wall touch panels, Halo remotes, mobile app, and voice commands. Extensive lighting scenes were programmed to support different usecases including Return Home, Entertain, Cinema, and Relax.
The home has been transformed into a high-functioning smart environment. Everyday living has become more seamless and comfortable. Lighting and climate adjust automatically throughout the day.AV content is instantly available in any room. The cinema delivers reference-level performance and remains a favourite feature of the home for family entertainment and hosting. The pool area is fully integrated with automation of lighting, music, and safety notifications. Security and gate access are remotely managed, and all systems can be controlled through multiple access points including smartphone, touchscreen, and voice. Guests are often impressed with the level of detail, quality, and simplicity the system provides.
